Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said:

"We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality,
tied in a single garment of destiny."

These words are the foundation of Dr. King's concept of "Beloved Community." On January 18, people across the country will come together to improve lives, bridge social barriers, and move our nation closer to the "Beloved Community" that Dr. King envisioned.

As we volunteer our time and energy to improve our communities, we should recognize that service and organizing go hand-in-hand. Our communities need your service now, whether it's fixing up a school or serving meals to the impoverished. But it would be a disservice to ourselves, our communities and to the memory of Dr. King if we also did not organize for broad, systemic change that addresses the root problems in our communities.

You are doing that already by taking action with the Campaign for Community Change. With your help, we are building a movement for systemic change that will improve the lives of everyday people in our country.

And now, in honor of Dr. King, we urge you to address the immediate needs of your community and build the connections that help to make long-term change possible. Start in your own household and build out to the community.

We hope you'll get involved. In solidarity,
