American Media Lacks Objective Perspective

Is America ready to deal with the candidates in this election year?
Race (Barack Obama), Gender (Hillary Clinton), and Age
(John McCain).  What are the issues to be addressed?

  • Is the mainstream media doing a good investigative job?
  • Are we being provided with factual data about what is going
    on around the country?
  • What about issues voted on by Congress this year?
  • Why is the price of everything going up sp quickly?
  • How is the WAR in IRAQ affecting our economy?
  • Where is the valuable economic information we need?

  • Has Hillary Clinton been treated fairly and equitably by the
media, the political establishment & by the other candidates?

  • Has she been held to a different standard?
  • Why hasn't the political establishment supported Clinton?
  • What about all the foundational work she has done?
  • Had she been a white male, do you think she would have
been treated in the same manner by the media?

  • What do you think of how Barack Obama has been treated?
  • Has he been challenged to the same degree as Clinton?
  • Is the media afraid to deal with the issue of "race" in a
meaningful way? So far, how has the media dealt with race?
  • Is the manner in which Obama been treated (the awe and
admiration afforded him) to do with race? To do with the
fact that he does not fit the usual stereotype assigned to
blacks? Is that an aspect of racism with a positive bent?

  • How has the media been dealing with John McCain?
  • Does it seem to you that Mr. McCain has a free reign?
  • What about the issue of the minister whose support McCain
sought, then when it was revealed that this minister said
some despicable things about Jews, he disavowed him?
  • Do you believe that Senator McCain did not know this
man's views before?  Why hasn't he been challenged?
  • Does the fact that Senator McCain was a war hero qualifies
    him to be president?
  • How has Senator McCain demonstrated his overall
competence?  Exactly what has he done nationally?

  • What are the main issues this election year?
  • What are the issues of importance to you?
  • Are any of those issues being addressed & by whom?

A CALL TO ACTION
There are many ways that you can promote tolerance and fight hate.
Try some of the following for starters.

  • Speak up when you hear slurs. Let people know that bias
speech is unacceptable (to you).  Apathy is as dangerous as
hate.  Racial slurs are NEVER funny regardless of who is
using them.  We need to be consistent in our opposition

  • Cross social boundaries.  Seek out opportunities to interact
with people who are different from you.  Eat lunch with
someone new (and different from yourself in ethnicity or
    culture).
  • Encourage your local police force to identify bias-motivated
    criminal acts as hate crimes.
  • Complain to media outlets when they promote stereotypes.
  • Look inside yourself for hidden biases.
  • Stand up against bullies, dictators, manipulators and evildoers

  • Do NOT allow yourself to be used against those who are
powerless, or who have less resources!

Whatever happened to the:
CT Clean Energy Fund &
CT Energy Efficiency Fund?

How will the next Governor's
policies affect the
environment?

Why does the CT electric
rates keeps going up?

Who will best protect the CT
consumer?  Find out.
Stop Health Care Disparities!

  • We need to imporove the
    health care outcomes for the
    poor, the disenfranchised
    and people of color?

  • Why in the USA do we have
    health care statistics that are
    worse than those in some
    Third World countries?

Can you answer these
questions for yourself?
The Demand of Citizenship: BE INFORMED!

Most of us seemed to be over worked with too little time
to be involved as citizens. We figure that those whom we
have elected will to the "right thing" as we would want
them to.  NOT TRUE!
Know the voting record!

GET INVOLVED!  We need a new type of thinking in
Washington DC;
 2008 offers new opportunities.

  • Take a few minutes to communicate with your
US Senator.  Make sure that he/she
understands your views on important issues.

  • Being a senator is not a lifetime appointment.
Elections are intended to hold elected
    officials accountable to voters.

  • Keep track of the voting record of your reps.

  • We need new dynamic and creative thinkers;
24 years are too long to serve.  The president
serves for a max of 8 years!  Senators should
    have a max 18 yrs.

Are you concerned about what is happening to our
environment?  Do you think there is a serious
problem?

Do you know where your state senator stands on
this issue?  Do you care what kind of environment
your children or grandchildren will inherit from us?
We need more alternative media!

  • We need people in media who
have the courage to speak up!

  • Resist bullies who seek to use
    lies, manipulation and volume to
    intimidate & silence others.

  • Help to make your community
    strong; contribute positively

  • Participate in politics; let your
    voice be heard by politicians

  • Join the National Democratic
    Senatorial Campaign Committee.

  • Help to elect senators who will
    serve the national interest
  • A small Democratic majority in
    Congress is not enough to
change the direction of the US.

As a tax payer, are you satisfied with
how your dollars are spent?
Do you know how they are spent?
What is the real test of a
person's character?

  • Are we better off today than we
were before we went into Iraq?

  • Are Americans safer than we were
    before we invaded Iraq?

  • What accounts for the price of
gas in 2008?  Do you know?

  • Are we holding our political
    leaders accountable in this
    election season?
PLEASE DO NOT BE APATHETIC ABOUT
The Political Process.

Your vote is VERY important in Local, State & National
elections

Please be sure you are informed before you vote.

Democracy is a participative, thinking, reasoning,
mental process. Take it seriously!

NATIONAL Friday, July 7, 2006 Titled:
"Hate Groups Infiltrating The Military,
Group Asserts."

The article, written by John Kifner states-

  • "A decade after the Pentagon declared a
    zero-tolerance policy for racial hate
    groups, recruiting short-falls caused by
the war in Iraq have allowed "large
    numbers of neo-Nazis and skinhead
    extremists" to infiltrate the military,
    according to a watchdog organization."

  • The Southern Poverty Law Center,
which tracks racist and right-wing militia
groups, estimated that the numbers could
run into the thousands, citing interviews
    with Defense Dept. investigators and
reports and poatings on racist Web sites
    and magazines."

WE SHOULD BE ALL BE OUTRAGED!

  • In the month of April, in the year
2007, in the country that considers
itself to be the leader of the free
world, a 12 year old African-
American boy died from a tooth
    abscess which poisoned his body!
  • Why did this happen in the USA?

  • His mother is poor; she cannot
afford to buy the very expensive
health insurance that is available to
    her.

  • Her son was on Medicaid.  But in
this filthy rich country, there are few
dentists and doctors who will see
    Medicaid patients because they
    complain that the reimbursement
    level is too low.

  • Although they charge those of us
who have insurance twice as much
as they should, some of these
    greedy,
