HELPFUL INFORMATION:
10 Tips to Get More Miles per Gallon of Gas
1. Keep your car in top condition. A tune-up for a car that's in poor condition may increase mileage by as much as 20%.
2. Keep your wheeels aligned. Incorrect wheel alignment may increase road resistance, which wastes gas.
3. Keep your tires at the proper inflation pressure recommended by your owner's manual. Under inflated tires are a major cause of poor fuel economy. Radial tires are best for better gas mileage.
4. Keep your air filter clean.
5. Use the multigrade motor oil recommended by your car's manufacturer.
6. Be wary of so-called fuel-saving products that must be attached to your car's engine. The Federal Trade Commission states that not one of the many devices tested by the EPA significantly increased fuel economy.
7. Be careful when accelerating. Gentle acceleration cuts waste.
8. Be a steady driver. Constant speed changes eat away at gas mileage. If you are in heavy traffic, it's better to inch along that stop-and-go. Use your cruise control whenever possible.
9. The most efficient rate of speed when on the open highway is 55 MPH. Higher, or even lower speeds, will use up gasoline more quickly.
10. In the warm weather, try not to use your air conditioner as much. Not using it may cut gas consumption by 5 to 20%. Also, drive light. Unload unneeded heavy items from your car's trunk.
The above tips were provided by Electric Insurance and are the same as offered by representatives from CT AAA Motor Club on "21st Century Conversations" Economy and Safety Program done in June 2006.

"A decade after the Pentagon declared a zero-tolerance policy for racial hate groups,
recruiting short-falls caused by the war in Iraq have allowed "large numbers of neo-Nazis
and skinhead extremists" to infiltrate the military, according to a watchdog organization."

A CALL TO ACTION
There are many ways that you can promote tolerance and fight hate. Try some of the following for starters.
- Speak up when you hear slurs. Let people know that bias speech is unacceptable (to you).
Apathy is as dangerous as hate.
- Cross social boundaries. Seek out opportunities to interact with people who are different from
you. Eat lunch with someone new (and different from yourself in ethnicity or culture).
- Encourage your local police force to identify bias-motivated criminal acts as hate crimes.
- Complain to media outlets when they promote stereotypes.
